A Tutorial on the Phase Problem in Diffractive Imaging
Veit Elser, Cornell & KITP

The intensity in a diffraction experiment possess structure from which the phase of the scattered radiation, which is not measured, can be inferred. This talk aims to explain this structure and the algorithms that are currently in use to "retrieve" the missing phases. No prior experience with the phase problem is assumed and the ideas will be illustrated with a very simple software implementation of the basic algorithm.
