At large dilution, the osmotic pressure is dominated by the counterion contribution. Contrary to the compressibility route, the virial route is unable to give this correct asymptotic behavior (the virial pressure is 2 times too small). As usual, the reason for such deficiency is that the One-Component approach does not take the ionic degrees of freedom into account. Simulation data : M.J. Stevens and K. Kremer, J.
