In this talk, I will consider several materials in which structural aspects,
orbital degrees of freedom as well as strong correlations combine together,
and are jointly responsible for the observed physical properties.
The dynamical mean-field theory, combined with electronic structure methods,
proves to be a most useful tool in understanding such materials.
