1D gases out of equilibrium in the intermediate coupling
regime are relatively tractable experimental systems, but pose
challenges to theory. I will describe a set of experiments in this
regime, and attempts to theoretically model them. The largest focus will
be on coupled bundles of 1D gases, where experiment-theory comparisons
suggest a hitherto unconsidered self-trapping mechanism.
