Flux vacua provide the most plausible suggestion to date as to how one might implement an anthropic solution to the problem of the cosmological constant and other possible puzzles. In this talk we look critically at the question of the existence of a discretuum of states. We also argue that while anthropic arguments in the flux vacua might explain certain known physical laws, other predictions are likely to be in conflict with experiment. On a positive note, we explain how low energy supersymmetry might emerge as a prediction of the flux vacua.
