Intense light with frequencies well beyond the IR as provided
by FELs couples many photons into extended targets such as
clusters and biomolecules. Thereby, many electrons are photo
activated, which means, removed from their mother atoms.
I will discuss a simple model (see Ulf Saalmann's talk) for
this photo activation to study electron migration and interaction.
The Coulomb properties lead to scaling relations which help to
relate quite different scenarios. To understand this type of
multi-electron dynamics on short time scales may be vital for
assessing and separating the different kinds of radiation damage
(ionic and electronic) inflicted by that type of radiation.
