This talk presents an analytical theory of strong field ionization in
systems with multiple interacting electrons. Because the electrons
can interact, they may rearrange during the tunneling process,
providing an alternative pathway for orbitals other than the highest
occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) to be vacated. This pathway is not
subject to the full exponential energy suppression accompanying direct
tunnel ionization from the more deeply bound orbitals. Interaction of
electrons during the tunneling process can be modeled as an
"attosecond correlation pulse," which depends on molecular structure
and orientation as well as the parameters of the laser field.
