Roles of Resonances and Re-collisions in ATI and Harmonic Generation Processes

We address the question of the origin of the conspicuous enhancements that are observed in the high energy (or plateau) part of ATI spectra, at selected laser intensities. The implications for harmonic generation are discussed.
