Some physical aspects of morphogenesis: guts and brains

A comparative view of morphogenesis across animal and plant species suggests that the answer may lie in reusing just a few organ-sculpting motifs. Following a brief overview of these basic motifs, I will discuss the quantitative basis for one of these motifs, folding, using the vertebrate gut and the mammalian  brain as examples.
