Phase diagram of kappa-(ET)2X
Stuart Brown, UCLA
NMR and contactless transport experiments are used to map out the low-temperature phase diagram of ?-(BEDT-TTF)2Cu[N(CN)2]Cl [1]. A line of first order transitions dividing the antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases is identified. Transport experiments indicate the line continues to higher temperatures where it divides metallic and insulating states before terminating at a critical point. NMR experiments indicate that a crossover, extending beyond the critical point, is associated with a spin pseudogap.

[1] S. Lefebvre, et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 5420-5423 (2000). order phase transitions dividing normal and SDW phases ending at a tricritical point. However, the lineshapes indicate the domain wall width is not negligible relative to the characteristic SDW domain size. On the high-pressure side of the phase boundary, nuclear spin-lattice relaxation is used to identify the crossover from non-Fermi Liquid behavior to Fermi Liquid (FL). The first order line and the crossover to FL are both affected by the introduction of disorder into the counterion sublattice.
