Excitation Spectrum and Superstripes: The Case of Spin-orbit Coupled BECs
Sandro Stringari, Univ. Trento & KITP
I will discuss (30 min) the predictions for the excitation spectrum of a
spinor BEC with spin orbit coupling, recently obtained in Trento. Main
Discussions may concern the analogies with supersolid effects exhibited by
other systems, including dipolar molecular gases.
- Occurrence of a roton structure in the plane wave phase, providing the
onset of the transition to the stripe phase;
- Emergence of two gapless bands and divergent behavior of the static
structure factor in the stripe phase.
