We review the state-of-the-art next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD programs
that are available to aid our understanding of present and future
collider physics experiments. Following a discussion of current
challenges and open problems, we will discuss recent novel advances in
methods for performing NLO calculations. These provide exciting
opportunities for broadening the scope of NLO programs to complicated
processes that, while experimentally interesting, are not calculable at
present.
