High-throughput search for novel photovoltaic materials
Mitchell Koerner, Mentors Ram Seshadri and Douglas Fabini (MRL)

A new class of materials has experienced exceptional improvement in solar photovoltaic efficiency in the past 5 years. These hybrid perovskites are currently as efficient as the traditional silicon solar cells. We are identifying important features in the electronic structure of these materials and searching for novel photovoltaic materials with these important features by a process of computational screening followed by more involved computational modeling, and then physical synthesis and characterization of promising candidates.
